I missed a run!

In a typical week, I run on 4 times. I carefully schedule my runs to fit my work and home life. However, every now and again, I miss a run! In my head, this means I am missing out on burning some calories. While this is true, it’s important to take into account why the run was missed. Sometimes we are tired, burned out, or just simply not able to complete the activity because life is complicated. It’s during this time we should examine other forms of behavior that still keep us on track. When missing a run, take a deep breath! Acknowledge that we don’t live on a schedule, we are humans! Next, look at ways to alter your activities. I recently went on a hike and played tennis when I missed a run. You can look closely at your nutrition routine, find a new activity, or just go for a walk (take the dog- he’ll thank you for it). Find a way to settle yourself but most importantly don’t be disappointed. Life happens and schedules can always be adjusted. As long as this isn’t a habit, you’ll find a break maybe just a gift in disguise!
