After running in the summer heat, how do you cool down after a run? I spoke about stretching in the last post but there is more to a cool down than just stretching. Often, we are still sweating for a period of time after the run. Here are some tips for cooling down. First, try taking a cold shower to bring down your body temperature. It will feel great and may help stop the sweating as you get dressed. Next, drink a full cup of cold water. Obviously, water after a run is a good idea but cold water can help hydrate and cool you down. Next, try a cool towel on your neck to help reduce your core temperature. Finally, go indoors and stretch rather than staying out in the elements. Air conditioning is a modern convenience so why not utilize it?
