Ready, Set, Race

When it comes to running, goals are important. Keep in mind we run for many different reasons but sometimes it’s fun to test our ability. Testing our ability could be adding a race to the calendar. This helps us evaluate our goals but also keeps us moving forward. The goals could include distance running, speed running or just completing your first race. When choosing your next race, ask yourself “why” you are choosing it. I recently signed up for a half marathon. Why? It’s my favorite distance. It’s always a challenge and yet never too much strain on my body. It motivates me but doesn’t exhaust me. After a year, ask yourself if it’s time to get out there? Would you be motivated by a goal? Would you feel renewed by having a goal? For me, the answer is yes. Having a race on my calendar adds a sense of balance and accomplishment after every run. Will you sign up soon for your favorite distance?
