The S- Word…..Stretch!

I believe our bodies were meant to be in motion. Whether we run, walk, or play other sports it’s important to remember that with motion comes stretching. Coaches along my path have always encourage me to stretch both before and after a run. However, we all know time is of the essence so I probably stretch one every 10 runs (if that). On a run recently, I started to feel a tight muscle. At the water stop, I bent down to touch my toes and made it to my knees! Yikes! I spent a few minutes doing some more stretching, which in turn got me through the run. After the run, I went to gym but my whole body ached. I spent time there REALLY stretching and let me tell you…..it made a big difference. Sometimes we need a reminder that stretching is important. It’s part of the running routine. My advice is to stretch your shoulders, arms, neck, legs, and hips. It will make a difference in your performance. So, take the time and stretch either before or after but make it part of your routine!
