Have you ever wondered if you were born into the right family? Do you ever think about how different you are from parents and/or siblings? I have often wondered how two siblings (including twins) come from the same parents and can be so different. Some differences may include appearances, talents, personalities, intellect, interests, thoughts or opinions. These differences can sometimes create friction or disrespect. Unfortunately, we don’t have control over the unit we were born into. We do, however, have the power to see the best in our God-given, hand-picked family and value their differences. Creating an environment of synergy in the family is simply valuing the differences of others. Valuing differences builds on strengths. If two people have the same opinion, one is unnecessary. Unity is not always sameness.
No matter what kind of relationship you have with your family, if you belong to Christ, you also belong a family of believers. Every member in the body of Christ has been given divine gifts to contribute to the growth of all. Billy Graham once stated, “Amazing things can happen when the family of God bands together.”
Ephesians 2:19 (The Passion Translation) states,
So, you are not foreigners or guests, but rather you are the children of the city of the holy ones, with all the rights as family members of the household of God.
Hebrews 10:19 (The Passion Translation) tells us,
And now we are brothers and sisters in God’s family because of the blood of Jesus, and He welcomes us to come into the most holy sanctuary in the heavenly realm- boldly and without hesitation.
I invite you, my friend, to join me in the family of God. When you allow Jesus to be the Father over your life, other believers are then your brothers and sisters. The love of the Father in a family is one of the greatest hits known to man.
